Job Title: Part-time Database Administrator
Department: Information Technology
Reports to: Director of Information Technology

Position Overview
The Part-time Database Administrator administers, manages, documents and supports the database applications utilized by the Higher Learning Commission. The position administers a variety of database systems; performs complex analytical reporting and analysis; manages database hardware and software; provides office operations support and problem resolution; performs related duties as assigned.
The expectation is that the Part-time Database Administrator will work no more than 25 hours per week.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Administer a variety of database systems and assist staff in developing procedures, forms, custom reports, and database documentation.
- Responsible for managing data and creating reports from 4D as well as custom workflow applications to satisfy business information needs.
- Assist in the scheduling of database projects, database and transaction log backups, notifications, and database replication.
- Respond to help desk inquiries regarding the HLC databases and provide user support as required.
- Provide and maintain documentation on database structure, security and associated applications including end-user manuals.
- All other duties as assigned by the Director of Information Technology.
Skills and Characteristics Required
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Database administration and development using 4D and MySQL including experience with custom report writing.
- Proven ability to work independently and as a team member; to set priorities and organize work to meet strict deadlines.
- Proven experience with troubleshooting principles, methodologies, and issue resolution techniques.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Mac OSX, Windows and basic UNIX.
- Ability to adapt to changes in technology.
Experience and Educational Requirements
- Bachelor's degree that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties and responsibilities as described.
- Six years of experience in computer technology field. Two years in database administration duties. 4D experience preferred.
- Experience with the integration of third-party tools with existing 4D databases.
Compensation
$33 – 45 per hour depending upon experience; no benefits; telecommuting negotiable
