Job Title: Web Administrator

Position Overview
The Website Administrator administers, manages, documents and supports the web functionality of the Higher Learning Commission. The position administers a variety of web systems; performs complex technical, analytical reporting and analysis; manages database-driven websites; integrates new technologies into website, provides problem resolution; performs related duties as assigned.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintain and administer web server and middleware tools used to develop web database systems and framework.
  • Design, implement and maintain web-based applications including programming and fully integrating updates and modifications.
  • Develop and report access statistics from the web sites for evaluation to managers and aid in interpreting results.
  • Manages security updates and other software requirements for the website maintenance.
  • Develop and maintain web-enabled capabilities and custom applications, as well as integrate and host open source tools.
  • Respond to help desk inquiries regarding the HLC websites and provide specialized user support to website content creators.
  • Support and maintain the HLC websites, including hardware, software, connectivity and security. Assure that systems are updated and backed up.
  • Work with outside vendors and contractors to assure continued availability of HLC websites and associated applications.
  • Assist in analyzing and developing requirements for business applications.
  • Performs other duties assigned.

Qualifications and Competencies:

  • Bachelor's degree that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties and responsibilities as described.
  • Hands-on experience with Joomla, CSS, PHP, XHTML, Apache, OSX, and MySQL preferred.
  • Excellent communication and organization skills and experienced in collecting, refining and documenting requirements.
  • Ability to work with end-users for needs analysis leading to functional specifications.
  • Proven ability to work independently and as a team member; to set priorities and organize work to meet strict deadlines.
  • Ability to interact with users and office staff in non-technical, clear terms; assist staff with difficult technical tasks, including the creation of specialized reports.
  • Familiarity with principles of open source development and applicable licensing issues.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of web publishing issues including web security, content management, data driven publishing, W3C standards and ADA requirements.
  • Experience with web technologies including Python, Perl, Javascript, ODBC, AJAX, HTML, XML, DHTML.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Mac OSX, Windows and basic UNIX.
  • Ability to multitask with good organizational and project management skills.
  • Ability to adapt to changes in technology.

Salary Range: $55,000 – $65,000
